Hayle farm was purchased by the Edmed family in 1978 and grows Apples, Pears, Blackcurrants, Plums, Gooseberries and Hops totalling 175Ha. Hayle farm production has increased significantly in the last few years with the rental and purchase of ground from neighbouring farms and in 2017 they have added an extra 27Ha from Flightshot farm.

Over the last 3 years they have re planted 29.7Ha of orchards, a really substantial investment!  The farm has also invested in solar panels to reduce energy usage, hosts a weather station

The wide range of apple and pear varieties grown by the Edmeds includes Gala, Cameo, Bramley, Cox, Egremont Russet, Braeburn, Cabaret, Red Windsor, Discovery and Worcester apples, with Conference, Concord, Comice and Williams pears

Richard sits on the Tesco top fruit sustainability group, he is also board member of the Avalon Grower Producer Organisation which own 50% of Avalon Produce Limited and is Vice Chairman of the Apple Growers Association. The award winning Mr Clive Edmed also doubles up as the BIFGA Vice Chairman (British Independent Fruit Growers Association).
